Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Mikey Romero (Roman Anthony) was placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a right wrist sprain on a check swing against the Detroit Tigers on May 5, 2026. The injury occurred in the first inning and he exited in the second frame. Initial hopes for avoiding IL placement were dashed when the wrist "isn't getting much better." As of mid-May, Anthony was still wearing a brace and had not participated in baseball activities for over a week. Manager Chad Tracy indicated incremental improvements with focus on grip strength recovery. Anthony is eligible to return Friday but unlikely to do so immediately. The Red Sox remain hopeful for a relatively quick return, though timeline remains uncertain.
