Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
A.J. Minter, 32-year-old left-handed reliever for the Mets, had his rehab assignment shut down due to left hip discomfort reported during spring training. Minter was recovering from August 2024 hip labrum and microfracture surgery and had previously suffered a lat avulsion in May 2024. During his minor league rehab assignment, he posted a 1.17 ERA over 8 appearances (7 2/3 innings) with a 1-0 record, but his velocity remained inconsistent (91-94 mph). Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated they would give him a few days rest before resuming throwing activities. The Mets are uncertain whether the hip issue is affecting his velocity.
