Francisco Alvarez suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during the sixth inning of Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers on May 13, 2026. He has been placed on the 10-day injured list and will undergo surgery. Expected recovery time is 6-8 weeks. This is Alvarez's fourth significant injury since joining the Mets in 2022. Prior to the injury, he was batting .241/.317/.393 with 4 home runs and a 105 wRC+ in 128 plate appearances, and had a 7-game hit streak. Luis Torrens and Hayden Senger will handle catching duties in his absence.
