Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson suffered a left shoulder injury (initially reported as sprain, later confirmed as dislocation) while diving for a ground ball during the fifth inning of a 2-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on May 10, 2026. Wilson was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 11. The injury occurred when Wilson dove to cut off Gunnar Henderson's infield single. Wilson was seen wearing a sling and required imaging to determine the full extent of the injury. Manager Mark Kotsay indicated the timeline for return would be determined after further imaging. This is a significant concern for the Athletics' core, as Wilson recently signed a seven-year, $70MM extension after finishing second in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2025 with a .311/.355/.444 slash line and 13 home runs.
