Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
JT Mabry's rehab assignment was shut down due to left hip discomfort. The 32-year-old reliever, who signed with the Mets after undergoing hip labrum and microfracture surgery in August 2024, was progressing well in minor league assignment (1-0, 1.17 ERA over 8 appearances) but reported hip issues this week. Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated they would give him a few days rest before resuming throwing activities. Velocity has been inconsistent during rehab (91-94 mph), and it's unclear if the hip issue is contributing to the decreased velocity.
Strengths
- + Strong minor league rehab performance (1.17 ERA)
- + Appeared healthy during spring training
- + Slow progression approach by Mets organization
- + Manager not overly concerned about hip issue
- + Plan to continue throwing after rest period
Weaknesses
- - Left hip discomfort during rehab assignment
- - History of multiple surgeries (hip labrum, microfracture, lat avulsion)
- - Velocity inconsistency (91-94 mph range)
- - Velocity has not fully returned to pre-injury levels
- - Uncertainty about hip's impact on performance
- - Age 32 with significant injury history
Injury Status: IL-10
