Logan Webb, 29-year-old Giants ace and two-time All-Star, was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 9, 2026 with right knee bursitis. This marks his first IL stint in five years (since 2021). Webb exited his most recent start against the Padres after just four innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits. He has struggled significantly in 2026 with a 2-4 record, 5.06 ERA, and 1.396 WHIP across eight starts. His strikeout rate has declined to 20.2% (below average), and opposing batters are hitting .275 against him. Webb snapped a streak of 156 consecutive starts without missing a turn. The knee issue has reportedly been bothering him for more than a week, possibly longer, and may have affected his performance throughout the season. Manager Tony Vitello noted Webb's reluctance to take time off despite the injury. Webb is expected to return when first eligible (May 21) and should require the minimum IL time. Trevor McDonald was recalled to take his rotation spot.
