Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Rhett Lowder, Cincinnati Reds right-handed starter, was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 13, 2026 due to right shoulder pain/discomfort. Lowder exited his May 7 start against the Cubs in the 4th inning after experiencing shoulder discomfort and walking back-to-back batters. MRI results showed no structural damage, but imaging revealed "clicking" in his AC joint. He received a cortisone injection. Manager Terry Francona indicated this is a precautionary measure to allow Lowder proper recovery time, noting the team wants him to "pitch for a long time and not get interrupted." Lowder will continue throwing while sidelined. This comes after Lowder missed all of 2025 with forearm and oblique injuries, limiting him to just 9.1 minor league innings that year. He had posted an impressive 1.17 ERA in his first 30.2 big league innings in 2024 before injuries derailed his 2025 season.
