Cal Raleigh, the Seattle Mariners' star catcher and 2025 AL MVP runner-up, has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. After an exceptional 2025 season (60 HRs, 125 RBIs), Raleigh has struggled dramatically in 2026, batting .161 with 7 HRs in 41 games. He was in the midst of a 36+ at-bat hitless streak before breaking out briefly on May 12 with two singles. He reaggravated his oblique injury on May 14 in Houston and was shut down. The Mariners are optimistic about recovery, with GM Justin Hollander stating imaging showed the injury was "similar or slightly improved" and that they don't anticipate a lengthy absence. Raleigh will receive PRP treatment and rest for approximately one week before re-evaluation.
