Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Angel Genao is a 21-year-old Dominican shortstop prospect for the Cleveland Guardians, ranked as the #2 prospect in the organization and #50 overall by MLB Pipeline. Recently promoted from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus on May 3, 2026, Genao is on the cusp of a major league call-up, potentially arriving as soon as late 2026. He has demonstrated switch-hitting abilities with raw power from the right side and is recovering well from a 2023 meniscus tear. Genao has shown early success in Triple-A, hitting his first home run on May 7 and a second on May 15, along with stolen base activity. He aspires to follow in the footsteps of his idol Francisco Lindor, who also developed as a shortstop in Cleveland's minor league system. The organization has added him to their 40-man roster and he participated in spring training with the major league club.
