Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Jose Berrios, 31-year-old Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher, has undergone elbow surgery for a stress fracture discovered during World Baseball Classic intake physicals. MRI revealed inflammation and small changes to the initial injury. Surgery performed by Dr. Keith Meister to repair the stress fracture and evaluate possible ligament damage and loose bodies. Berrios has not pitched in the majors in 2026 and struggled during rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo with a 10.67 ERA over 14.1 innings. Expected to miss at least a couple of months with uncertain recovery timeline. Previously had never missed a start due to injury in his career until late 2025 when he landed on IL with elbow inflammation.
