Jordan Romano, a 33-year-old former Blue Jays closer and 2-time All-Star, signed a minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies after being released by the Angels. Romano started the 2025 season strong with the Angels (4 saves in 6 scoreless appearances) but struggled significantly, allowing 9 runs over 8 innings with 2 blown saves against the Yankees and additional poor outings. He was designated for assignment and released after just 8 innings pitched. Romano has battled multiple injuries over the past three seasons (back issues in 2023, elbow surgery in 2024, finger numbness/inflammation in 2025), resulting in significant velocity decline. His fastball has dropped from 96.7 mph (2023) to 94.5 mph (2025), and his slider from 88.4 mph to 84.7 mph.
