Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Braxton Garrett was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to replace injured Robby Snelling (UCL sprain) in the Marlins rotation. After missing all of 2025 recovering from UCL revision surgery with an internal brace, Garrett had been dominant at Triple-A with a 2.30 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 32:15 K:BB through 31.1 innings. However, his MLB debut was disastrous—he allowed 5 runs on 4 hits with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts over 1.1 innings against Minnesota. His second start was slightly better (2 runs over 3 innings) but still showed command issues. He was subsequently optioned back to Triple-A after the second poor outing, though he remains in line for future opportunities given his track record and the Marlins' rotation needs.
