Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Francisco Alvarez, 24-year-old Mets catcher, suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during Tuesday's game against the Tigers in the sixth inning. He underwent surgery and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, potentially longer if damage is more extensive. Before injury, Alvarez was batting .241 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs in 37 games (112 at-bats). Luis Torrens will take over as primary catcher with Hayden Senger as backup. This is the third meniscus tear for the Mets this season.

- - Expected to miss 6-8 weeks minimum, potentially rest of 2026 season if damage more extensive
- - Subpar offensive performance pre-injury (.241 BA, .317 OBP, .393 SLG)
- - History of injuries limiting availability
- - Part of injury-plagued Mets roster (third meniscus tear on team this season)
