Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Jhoan Duran, Phillies closer, recently returned from a 15-day injured list stint due to an oblique strain suffered in mid-April. He made his first appearance on Tuesday in a 9-1 blowout victory, pitching the ninth inning and allowing one run on one hit with three walks and one strikeout in 27 pitches. The Phillies are being cautious with the hard-throwing right-hander and did not deploy him in a save situation on Wednesday night, instead using Brad Keller. Pitching coach Caleb Cotham noted that Duran's stuff looked great but he was rusty in his first action after three weeks away. The team is carefully managing his workload and did not have him pitch on back-to-back days immediately upon return.
