Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Matt Bowman, 34-year-old relief pitcher, opted out of his minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins on Sunday after excelling at Triple-A St. Paul. Bowman posted a 1.69 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP, 25 strikeouts and 6 walks over 21.1 innings in 2026. The Twins had until Wednesday to promote him to the active roster or allow him to enter free agency. Despite the Twins' bullpen struggles (3rd worst ERA at 5.16), Minnesota inexplicably allowed Bowman to walk, making him available to other MLB teams. Bowman has MLB experience dating back to 2016 with the Cardinals and most recently pitched for Baltimore in 2025. His strong Triple-A performance and veteran status make him an attractive option for teams seeking bullpen reinforcement.
