The New York Mets are calling up 21-year-old top prospect A.J. Ewing to make his MLB debut. Ewing, the Mets' No. 2 prospect and 78th-ranked prospect in baseball, was drafted in the fourth round (134th overall) in 2023 out of high school. He's being promoted after just 12 Triple-A games following a promotion from Double-A on April 27. Ewing has been exceptional in 2026, posting a .339/.447/.514 line over 30 minor league games with 17 stolen bases in 18 attempts. The Mets, struggling offensively (ranked 29th-30th in most offensive categories) with a 15-25 record, are hoping Ewing can provide a spark. He's a versatile defender who can play all three outfield positions, with elite speed and excellent contact skills. Career minor league numbers show a .290/.395/.425 slash line with 101 stolen bases in 251 games.
