Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
A.J. Minter, 32-year-old left-handed reliever for the New York Mets, was pulled from his Triple-A rehab assignment on May 6-7, 2026 due to left hip discomfort. He was recovering from March 2025 lat surgery and was days away from activation when he reported hip issues. Manager Carlos Mendoza stated they are "not too concerned" and plan to give him a few days rest before resuming throwing. Minter performed well in rehab with a 1.17-2.25 ERA across 7-8 appearances (7.2 innings), but velocity has been inconsistent (91-94 mph). He subsequently threw a bullpen session on May 11 without discomfort and is expected to resume his rehab assignment after additional throwing sessions. Minter signed a 2-year, $22 million contract with the Mets and hasn't pitched since April 2025.
