Francisco Alvarez, 24-year-old Mets catcher, suffered a torn right meniscus in his right knee during the 6th inning of Tuesday's game against Detroit Tigers. MRI confirmed meniscus tear on Wednesday. Placed on 10-day IL with expected 6-8 week recovery timeline. This is Alvarez's fourth trip to the injured list since 2024. Currently batting .241/.317/.393 with 4 HR and 105 wRC+ in 128 PA across 37 games. Luis Torrens will take over as primary catcher with Hayden Senger recalled as backup.
