Scouting Report

Updated May 19, 2026

Yoniel Curet, 23-year-old RHP, was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo by the Detroit Tigers on May 7, 2026. Curet was claimed off waivers from Philadelphia on April 13 and has yet to pitch in MLB. He was designated for assignment after reliever Ricky Vanasco was added to the roster. This is his first career outright assignment. Curet signed with Tampa Bay out of the Dominican Republic in 2019 and was ranked as the Rays' No. 11 prospect by Baseball America in 2024. He suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the first half of 2025 and struggled with control issues upon returning. In his only appearance for Triple-A Toledo, he walked 3 of 6 batters faced.
