Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Josh Simpson, a 28-year-old left-handed pitcher from Connecticut (Stafford High/Columbia University), was acquired by the Seattle Mariners from Miami in February 2026. He was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on May 1, sent back May 2, and recalled again May 4. He made his Mariners debut on May 9 against Chicago White Sox and pitched in multiple appearances. However, after posting a 7.71 ERA with 3 strikeouts across three appearances, he was optioned back to Triple-A Tacoma on May 14 to make roster room for Jose Ferrer's return from paternity list. Simpson had previously been called up to Miami in 2023 but did not appear in a game, and has 110 minor league games over four seasons.
