Logan Webb, the San Francisco Giants' ace and two-time All-Star, was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 9, 2026, due to right knee bursitis. Webb exited his start against the San Diego Padres on May 6 after just four innings, allowing six runs on seven hits. He has been dealing with knee discomfort for an extended period but initially downplayed the injury. The 29-year-old is having a difficult 2026 season with a 2-4 record, 5.06 ERA, 1.396 WHIP, and .275 opponent batting average across eight starts. His offspeed pitch effectiveness has declined significantly from the 98th percentile in 2025 to the 38th percentile in 2026. Webb is eligible to return on May 21 and is expected to need the minimum IL time. Trevor McDonald was recalled to take his rotation spot.
