Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Roman Anthony, 21-year-old Red Sox outfielder, was placed on the 10-day IL on May 8, 2026 with a sprained ligament in his right ring finger/wrist suffered during an at-bat against Detroit on May 4. Anthony received a cortisone shot and was removed from his splint, progressing to throwing activities. He has not yet swung a bat since the injury. Anthony is optimistic about a quick return, expecting to play the day after coming off the IL. He had been on a four-game hit streak prior to the injury but has struggled overall in 2026 with a .229/.354/.321 line after an impressive .292/.396/.463 debut in 2025. This is his second IL stint in as many seasons.
