Francisco Alvarez, 24-year-old Mets catcher, suffered a right knee meniscus tear on May 13, 2026 during the 6th inning of a game against the Tigers when his leg twisted while taking a swing. MRI confirmed the injury. Alvarez placed on 10-day IL with expected 6-8 week recovery timeline. Currently batting .241/.317/.393 with 4 HR in 128 PA (105 wRC+). Luis Torrens will assume primary catching duties with Hayden Senger as backup. This is the third meniscus tear injury for the Mets this season.
