Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Andrew Wantz (note: sources reference both "Wantz" and "Walters") is a young right-handed reliever in the Cleveland Guardians organization recovering from a severe lat injury suffered in June 2025. He was on a rehab assignment in Triple-A Columbus in late April 2026 but was returned due to a viral illness that sidelined him since April 24. He is expected to resume a new rehab stint once he recovers from the illness. Wantz was drafted 62nd overall in 2023 and quickly ascended through the minors, making his MLB debut in summer 2024 with 8.2 scoreless innings. He earned a call-up on May 28, 2025, but suffered a lat tear two days later, ending his season. When healthy, he features a mid-to-high 90s fastball and a deadly slider but struggles with control.
