Sean Murphy, 31-year-old Braves catcher, suffered a fractured left middle finger on May 11, 2026, during a catcher's interference play when Hyeseong Kim's bat clipped his hand. Murphy was placed on the 10-day IL retroactive to May 11. Manager Walt Weiss announced Murphy will miss at least eight weeks (through early July), with additional recovery time needed before returning to full catching duties. This injury comes just four games into Murphy's 2026 season after he spent the first month rehabbing from hip surgery (September 2025). Murphy has struggled offensively, going 1-for-14 in his four games back with multiple strikeouts.
