Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Jake Bloss, 24-year-old Blue Jays pitching prospect, returned to game action after undergoing Tommy John (UCL) surgery in May 2025. In his first rehab appearance with the Florida Complex League Blue Jays on May 12, 2026, Bloss pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit while striking out 4 batters. In his second rehab outing on May 18, 2026, he continued his strong performance with 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K. Bloss is being ramped up slowly and could become a rotation option for Toronto by midseason. The Blue Jays are actively seeking a fifth starter following Eric Lauer's designation for assignment, and Bloss is in the conversation as an internal option alongside Chad Dallas and CJ Van Eyk. Bloss has prior MLB experience (3 starts with Houston in 2024) and was acquired from the Astros in the Yusei Kikuchi trade in July 2024.
