Spencer Miles, a 25-year-old Rule 5 pick acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays in December 2025, has emerged as a bright spot in the team's injury-plagued rotation. Through 12 appearances (21 innings), Miles has posted an impressive 3.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts and only 5 walks, while holding opponents to a .222 batting average and 1.10 WHIP. He has been utilized as both an opener and bulk reliever, most recently throwing a season-high 3.2 innings (56 pitches) against Detroit on May 16, 2026. Manager John Schneider has indicated Miles will pitch the bulk of innings in the vacant rotation spot while starters Shane Bieber and Max Scherzer recover from injuries. Miles has demonstrated versatility and willingness to pitch in whatever role the team needs, including a strong three-inning start against the Angels where he struck out Mike Trout on three pitches.
