Alek Thomas, 26-year-old center fielder and former second-round pick (2018), was designated for assignment by the Arizona Diamondbacks after struggling offensively in 2026 (.181/.222/.340 through 28 games). Despite being a highly-regarded prospect who debuted in 2022, Thomas has failed to develop at the plate, posting a career .230/.273/.361 batting line over nearly 1500 plate appearances.
