A

Overall

IL-15

Summary

Ryan Helsley (Orioles closer) suffered a right elbow injury and was placed on the 15-day IL on May 1, 2026. Initial reports indicated he had not been cleared to throw (May 11), but his elbow responded well to anti-inflammatory treatment with no structural damage or ligament involvement. By May 15, he successfully played catch for the first time since the injury. As of May 16, he completed flat ground throwing work (approximately 30 throws from 75 feet) and is expected to continue this progression for two weeks before an injury rehab assignment. Manager Craig Albernaz expressed optimism about his recovery trajectory. A mid-June return is considered feasible.
