Connor Wong, Boston Red Sox catcher, suffered an ankle injury on May 14, 2026 during the 8th inning against the Philadelphia Phillies when he tripped on batter Edmundo Sosa while attempting to catch a pop-up in foul territory. Initial imaging came back negative. Manager Chad Tracy reported Wong is doing much better than expected, with good mobility and no ligament/tendon damage. Wong is taped up and available in emergency situations. Wong himself stated the injury is similar to a previous ankle injury he's experienced and is less severe. He is expected to be fine pending further evaluation.
