Scouting Report: Ben Madison
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Ben Rice, Yankees first baseman, suffered a left-hand contusion on May 5 when he misjudged a pickoff throw from Max Fried. He has been sidelined for multiple consecutive games but is considered day-to-day with no IL stint expected at this time. Rice has been the Yankees' most consistent and dangerous hitter, leading the AL in batting average (.343) and the majors in OPS (1.214), on-base percentage (.455), and slugging percentage (.759). He has 12 home runs and 27 RBIs in 33 games. Manager Aaron Boone indicated Rice felt better and may be available as a reserve if he can complete light hitting and ramp up his swing work.
