Overall
Summary
Bryan Garcia (Rico Garcia) is a 32-year-old right-handed reliever for the Baltimore Orioles who has had an exceptional 2026 season. He was claimed off waivers from the New York Mets in August 2025 after being designated for assignment three times. Garcia has posted a 0.45 ERA (second-lowest among relievers), a 0.42 WHIP, and has allowed just one hit across 20 appearances and 19+ innings pitched. He has recorded 22 strikeouts with only 7 walks, and opponents are hitting just .018 against him. Garcia has made MLB history as the first pitcher to allow at most one total hit in their first 20 appearances of a season. He has developed an effective slider and maintains a 54.3% ground ball rate. With the Orioles' closer Ryan Helsley on the injured list, Garcia has taken over the closer role and has converted all save opportunities.
