The right-handed pitcher underwent Tommy John surgery in late 2023, followed by complications including fluid in his elbow and an elbow fracture requiring extended rehabilitation. He returned to action in May 2026 with the Class AA Biloxi Shuckers, throwing 98.7-99 mph with encouraging early results. In his first three appearances, he posted a 1.50 ERA over 3 innings with 5 strikeouts, though he also allowed 1 HR and hit 2 batters. Prior to his injury, Wagoner was performing at a high level with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2023, earning Midwest League Pitcher of the Month honors in August (4-0, 1.37 ERA in 5 games).
