Scouting Report: Chase Strumpf
Chicago Cubs | 3B
Overall
Summary
Chase Dollander, 24-year-old RHP for the Colorado Rockies, was placed on the 15-day IL with a right elbow strain after being pulled from a game against Pittsburgh on May 14, 2026. MRI results showed only a minor UCL sprain with inflammation, avoiding the worst-case scenario of a torn UCL requiring Tommy John surgery. Dollander expressed relief, calling it "the best-case scenario." Prior to injury, he was performing well as a breakout young pitcher with a 3.89 ERA, 47 strikeouts, and a 3-3 record in 10 starts (mostly as a bulk reliever). The 2023 ninth overall pick is expected to miss approximately one month.
Strengths
- Dodged major injury - minor UCL sprain vs. torn ligament
- Breakout season performance with 3.89 ERA
