Scouting Report: Colin Poche

Chicago Cubs | RP

C

Overall

IL-15

Summary

Colin Poche was placed on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow inflammation (tricep lateral elbow tightness). He was removed from his start against the Marlins after three innings and 43-58 pitches with forearm discomfort. An MRI was ordered to assess the injury, with potential cortisone shot treatment. This comes as the Orioles rotation is already decimated with multiple pitchers on the IL, including Zach Eflin (60-day IL post-Tommy John surgery), Trevor Rogers (illness), and Dean Kremer (quad strain). Poche had been thrust into a regular starting role as a depth piece and posted a 5.12 ERA with 8.5% walk rate and 14.6% strikeout rate over limited appearances.

Strengths

  • Injury may be less severe than typical elbow issues - located on outside of elbow in triceps area rather than UCL
  • Manager indicated Poche may not be out for extended period
