Connor Wong, Boston Red Sox catcher, suffered an ankle injury on May 8, 2026 while attempting to catch a pop-up in foul territory against the Philadelphia Phillies. Wong tripped on batter Edmundo Sosa and went down. Initial imaging came back negative for ligament/tendon damage. Manager Chad Tracy reported Wong is "doing much better than we thought" with good mobility and is taped up. Wong is available in emergency situations but not playing in the immediate aftermath. Wong himself stated the injury is "a little sore" and that he's experienced worse ankle injuries previously.
