Scouting Report: Ethan Roberts
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Ethan Roberts, 28-year-old RHP for the Chicago Cubs, was reinstated from the 15-day injured list on May 17, 2026, after recovering from a right middle finger laceration sustained during a freak workout accident on April 14. Roberts had been out for approximately one month. He completed a successful rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa, making five appearances and allowing just one run over 5.0 innings (1.80 ERA). Prior to his injury, Roberts had pitched well in three MLB appearances, posting 2.2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts and allowing only 1 baserunner on 10 batters faced. He was activated to help address the Cubs' bullpen depth issues caused by multiple injuries to other relievers. Manager Craig Counsell praised the team's approach to injury management.
