Sean Murphy, 31-year-old Braves catcher, placed on 10-day IL (retroactive to May 11) with fractured left middle finger sustained during catcher's interference play on May 11 vs. Dodgers. Expected to miss at least 8 weeks with additional recovery time needed. Murphy had just returned May 4 from hip labrum surgery recovery, playing only 4 games (1-for-14, 6 strikeouts) before injury. Chronic injury issues plague his recent seasons - limited to under 95 games in 2024-2025 due to various ailments including hip problems requiring September 2025 surgery. Performance concerns evident with below-Mendoza Line numbers in past two seasons.
