Summary
José Caballero, Yankees shortstop, suffered a right middle finger fracture while diving back to first base against the Brewers on May 11, 2026. He was placed on the 10-day IL. Caballero indicated he won't need more than 10 days and can bend his finger with only a compression bandage. He won't throw or hit for 5-7 days but can field. Manager Aaron Boone promised him the starting SS role upon return.
