Summary
Josh Smith, Texas Rangers second baseman, has been on the 10-day injured list since May 4 with a right glute strain. During his rehab process, he developed wrist inflammation that delayed his return. Most critically, Smith was hospitalized for viral meningitis and is expected to be sidelined for 7-10 days. Prior to his injuries, Smith was struggling offensively, slashing .217/.324/.239 with no home runs and 6 RBIs in 31 games. Backup infielders Ezequiel Duran and Justin Foscue have performed well in his absence.
