Scouting Report: Kole Calhoun
Chicago Cubs | RF
Overall
Summary
Cal Raleigh, the Seattle Mariners' star catcher and 2025 AL MVP runner-up, has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. After an MVP-caliber 2025 season (60 HRs, 125 RBIs), Raleigh has struggled dramatically in 2026, hitting just .161 with a 36-game hitless streak before breaking out briefly on May 13. He reaggravated his oblique injury on May 14 against Houston and was shut down for a week. The Mariners are optimistic about his recovery, with GM Justin Hollander stating imaging showed the injury was "similar or slightly improved" and that they don't anticipate a lengthy absence. Raleigh will receive PRP treatment at the team's Peoria facility.
Strengths
- Optimistic team outlook - GM states no lengthy absence expected
