Scouting Report: Luis Baez
Chicago Cubs | CF
Overall
Summary
Luis Arraez, 29-year-old second baseman for the San Francisco Giants, has returned to prime form after signing a one-year, $12 million contract. Despite missing two games due to left thumb soreness from a swing, Arraez has been one of the Giants' best performers. He is hitting .316 with a wRC+ of 109, leads the team with a .330 average and 2.5% strikeout rate, and is tied for the MLB lead in Outs Above Average at any position. He has made good on offseason promises to improve defensively at second base. After the Giants' off-day Thursday, he was expected to return to the lineup Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Giants' offense has struggled overall (ranked last in MLB in runs, OBP, OPS, and stolen bases), but Arraez has been a bright spot.
