Scouting Report: River Town
Chicago Cubs | LF
Overall
Summary
River Ryan, a 27-year-old right-handed pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, is scheduled to return to game action on Friday for Triple-A Oklahoma City after missing more than a month with a hamstring injury. Ryan was a standout in spring training 2026 and has been carefully managed by the Dodgers following Tommy John surgery in 2024. He missed the entire 2025 season recovering from that surgery. In his 2024 MLB debut, Ryan was impressive with a 1.33 ERA over 20.1 innings with 18 strikeouts in four starts. His current Triple-A stint has been limited due to injury, with two starts showing a 5.14 ERA over seven innings before the hamstring setback. The Dodgers view him as a top pitching prospect with potential for a second-half call-up to the majors.
Strengths
- Impressive 2024 MLB debut with 1.33 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 20.1 innings
- Strong spring training performance in 2026 with 1.86 ERA over 9.2 innings
