Summary
Angel Bastardo, a right-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, has made his return to professional baseball after missing all of 2025 due to Tommy John surgery. After being taken in the Rule 5 Draft by Toronto and subsequently returned to Boston on April 1, Bastardo made his Triple-A debut on April 21, 2026. In his first outing, he threw one inning out of the bullpen, walking two while striking out three batters on 27 pitches. Worcester manager Chad Tracy praised his arm talent, noting that the ball "jumps out of his hand" with fastballs reaching 97 mph. However, Tracy also noted that rust was evident in Bastardo's performance.
