Scouting Report: Brooks Baldwin
Chicago White Sox | LF
Overall
Summary
Drake Baldwin, the 2025 NL Rookie of the Year and reigning MVP candidate, was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a strained right oblique muscle. Baldwin was having an exceptional 2026 season, batting .303-.305 with 13 home runs, 160 wRC+, and leading all catchers in offensive production. He was removed early from a game against Miami on Monday. The injury is particularly damaging as the Braves are already without catcher Sean Murphy (fractured finger), forcing the team to rely on backup catchers Sandy León and Chadwick Tromp. Oblique injuries can be multi-week setbacks, with comparable injuries (Mookie Betts) requiring 5+ weeks recovery.
Strengths
- MVP-caliber offensive production (.303 BA, .389 OBP, .543 SLG)
- Leading all catchers with 13 home runs
