Chase Petty, 22-year-old Cincinnati Reds prospect, has shown significant improvement in his second MLB call-up compared to his rough debut last season. In his May 5, 2026 start against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, he pitched 5.2 innings of quality baseball, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks while retiring 17 of 20 batters faced. However, he has been dealing with recurring blister issues on his pitching hand. After being optioned back to Triple-A Louisville, he exited a start early in early May due to finger/blister concerns, then returned but struggled significantly in a May 18 outing against Indianapolis, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits in 3 innings.
