Summary
Jose Trevino, 33-year-old catcher for the Cincinnati Reds, suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain on May 16, 2026, while running out a sacrifice bunt against the Cleveland Guardians. He was placed on the 10-day injured list and is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks. This is his second injury of the 2026 season, following a thoracic spine strain in April. Trevino has struggled offensively this season, batting .138 with a .339 OPS in 14 games through late May. P.J. Higgins was called up from Triple-A Louisville to serve as backup catcher to Tyler Stephenson.
