Summary
Josh Smith, Texas Rangers second baseman, is on the 10-day injured list with a right glute strain (sidelined since May 4) and has developed wrist inflammation during his rehab assignment. Manager Skip Schumaker indicated the wrist issue should sideline him for "hopefully" just a couple of days. Smith is eligible for activation Thursday. He has struggled offensively this season, slashing .217/.324/.239 in 31 games before the injury. Backup infielders Ezequiel Duran and Justin Foscue have filled in during his absence, with both performing well.
