Summary
All-Star LHP Cole Ragans placed on 15-day IL retroactive to May 7, 2026 with left elbow impingement. Ragans exited Wednesday start vs. Cleveland after 3 innings with triceps/elbow tightness. Medical evaluation revealed VEO ("pitcher's elbow"). Received lubricant injection; expected minimal IL stay with 3-4 day shutdown. Manager Quatraro expects Ragans to not miss more than required IL stint. Ragans expressed optimism about recovery. However, Ragans has struggled early in 2026 with 4.84 ERA through 8 starts, 10 HRs allowed in 35.1 IP. History of significant injuries including two Tommy John surgeries and 2025 rotator cuff strain.
