Detroit Tigers | 2B
Overall
Summary
Gleyber Torres, a three-time All-Star second baseman for the Detroit Tigers, was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 6, 2026 (retroactive to May 4) due to a left oblique strain. He suffered the injury on Saturday during a game against Texas when he was thrown out at home plate trying to score from second base on Riley Greene's single. Torres left the game after three innings. This marks the second time in consecutive seasons he has dealt with a left oblique strain. At the time of the IL placement, Torres was hitting .259 with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs, and a team-leading 25 walks, posting a .259/.389/.328 batting line with a wRC+ of 111. Manager AJ Hinch indicated Torres is still day-to-day and not yet ready to begin a rehab assignment, though he was completing return-to-play progression activities. Jace Jung was recalled from Triple-A Toledo to fill the roster spot.
